Threadmark (“the Extension”) is a Google Chrome extension developed by GoodUse.ai. Your privacy is important to us. This Privacy Policy explains what data Threadmark accesses, how it is used, and how it is handled.

1. Overview

Threadmark is designed to help users save, organize, and revisit important moments from ChatGPT conversations. The extension is built with a local-first architecture and does not require a user account.

Threadmark does not sell, rent, or share user data.

2. Data Storage & Processing

Local Storage Only

All data created or saved using Threadmark is stored locally on your device using Chrome’s built-in storage (chrome.storage.local).

This includes:

  • Saved thread references
  • Highlighted text selections
  • User-created notes or metadata
  • Feature usage state (e.g. number of saved items)

Threadmark does not store your data on any external servers.

3. Data Collection

Threadmark does not collect or transmit:

  • Personal information
  • ChatGPT conversation content to external servers
  • Browsing history outside of supported pages
  • Keystrokes, passwords, or form inputs

All interaction with ChatGPT content occurs only in your browser.

4. Network Activity

Threadmark does not:

  • Send ChatGPT content to third-party services
  • Track users across websites
  • Run background network requests unrelated to user actions

Any optional actions (such as exporting saved data or opening external links) are user-initiated.

5. Analytics

Threadmark does not collect analytics related to ChatGPT content or saved data.

If basic, anonymous website analytics are used on GoodUse.ai (the marketing site), they are not connected to extension usage or stored Threadmark data.

6. Monetization & Payments

Threadmark may offer optional paid features (e.g. a Pro upgrade).

  • Payment processing is handled by a third-party provider.
  • Threadmark does not receive or store payment details such as credit card numbers.
  • Purchasing a Pro upgrade does not grant the developer access to your saved data.

7. Permissions Explanation

Threadmark requests only the permissions necessary to function properly.

These permissions are used solely to:

  • Access supported pages (such as ChatGPT) to enable saving and highlighting
  • Store user data locally in Chrome storage
  • Respond to user-initiated actions

Threadmark does not use permissions for advertising, tracking, or surveillance purposes.

8. Data Sharing

Threadmark does not:

  • Sell user data
  • Share user data with third parties
  • Transfer user data outside the local browser environment

Your saved content remains under your control.

9. Data Retention & Deletion

Because all data is stored locally:

  • You can delete your Threadmark data at any time by clearing the extension’s storage or uninstalling the extension.
  • Uninstalling Threadmark removes all locally stored data associated with it.

10. Children’s Privacy

Threadmark is not designed for use by children under the age of 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

11. Changes to This Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated to reflect changes to the extension or legal requirements. Updates will be posted on this page with a revised “Last updated” date.
